AMERICAN INDIAN HEALTH SERVICE OF CHICAGO, INC is currently looking for a qualified applicant for the following position.
Position: CHW – Youth Project Coordinator
Salary: Full Time /$17.00 per hour
Relationship, Responsibility, and Duties:
- Monitors and supervises youth (13 yrs. – 24 yrs.) in both the after school and drop-in programs, observes the interaction and behavior of youth while engaged in various activities, and maintains a safe and secure living environment where youth are involved in programmatic activities.
- Provides individual coaching, conducts behavioral/social/educational skill development group sessions, establishes rapport and trust with youth, observes behavior patterns of youth in order to detect signs of depression, anger, and/or other emotional problems/issues, and implements behavior management programs/techniques and appropriate intervention techniques.
- Co-facilitate a weekly youth group in the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center with AIHSC staff.
- Develop and maintain webpage and social media campaigns regarding Youth and Behavioral Health.
- Work in conjunction with the other AIHSC Outreach staff on providing opportunities to promote healthy lifestyles and positive self-identity, for AI/AN youth and their families.
- Develop team building and problem-solving activities.
- Maintains close supervision over youth to prevent self-injuries, accidents, fights, and/or other negative incidents.
- Receives supervision from clinical staff related to interaction patterns with clients and other work-related issues and participates in trainings and workshops to enhance work performance and professional growth.
- Prepares daily youth interactions entries, incident reports, and other required documentation and reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have college degree with experience working with children/young adults or providing health education to groups or individuals.
- Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills. Self-starter who works with minimal supervision
- Must have a working knowledge of the American Indian community and culture.
- Demonstrates sound judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality with all aspects of information in accordance with practice, State and Federal regulations
