Values & Philosophy
As a clinician, I offer a holistic approach to treatment with an emphasis on the importance of the therapeutic relationship. Healing and change come about in many ways and are different for everyone. Therapy therefore is a collaborative process. You are the expert in your own experience and I will be along on the journey to provide support, feedback, and resources.
In addition to utilizing many different approaches to meet the varying needs of my clients, I also make space for creative expression at the client’s pace and comfort level. This has in the past included drawing, writing, small scale sculpture and photography.
Addiction and substance abuse rarely present alone, but in conjunction with other challenges and indicators such as major life changes, depression, anxiety and symptoms related to trauma. In therapy, we will explore the contributing factors that lead to the use of substances and/or maladaptive coping skills that continue the cycle of addiction.
