Director of Diabetes Program
An accomplished Doctor of Nursing Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner with exemplary clinical and academic experience, Dr. McGee is committed and motivated to the highest standard of innovative quality health care. Melissa completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Leadership Direct Care Practice Specializing in Diabetes at Grand Canyon University, Phoenix AZ. Received a Master of Science in Nursing-Family NP, at Concordia University of Wisconsin, Mequon, WI and Bachelor of Science: Registered Nurse at Mercy College Northwest Ohio, Toledo, OH. Melissa also has Bachelor of Allied Health: Health Science from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH, and Associate of Science: Occupational Therapy Assistant at Owens Community College, Toledo, OH.
Melissa has worked with diabetes care since 2011, as the Diabetes Director Case Manager/Community Health Nurse at AIHSC. She went on to collaborate with Senators to provide Congressional support and urged legislators to support programs that impact diabetes-continuous glucose monitoring coverage with Medtronic’s in 2016, this Bill passed in WI. In 2017-2019 Lead Clinician Diabetes QI Committee, created diabetes program for education-used for Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. She is the author of publication to implement to impact knowledge and self-care of diabetes knowledge among Native American people at an urban family practice clinic in Milwaukee, WI. Melissa also presented diabetes research, Data Matter conference Tribal Nation Research Group and Illinois District Council worship centers for preventive disease. She received the Sigma Nu Upsilon Chapter Rising Star Award and Scholarship for her diabetes research and currently serves on Chapter Sigma Nu Upsilon
