Ana Fuentes, Behavioral Therapist, LSW, PEL, CCATP, C-DBT

Ana was born and raised in Chicago. She is of Mexican and Japanese descent, bilingual (English and Spanish), and bicultural. She attended the University of Chicago and obtained a Master’s in Social Work, Policy, and Practice with a clinical concentration. Ana is a licensed social worker, additionally, she holds a public education license in school social work. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Health Sciences from DePaul University. She has 20+ years of working in the social service public health field.

Ana has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She thinks of her clients as multifaceted, keeping in mind the inter-sectionality of their culture, identity, historical trauma/trauma, attachment, family history, development, and relationship patterns. She enjoys working with folks of all backgrounds but is especially passionate about working with folks from within the Black, Asian, American Indian, and Latinx communities.

She utilizes Family systems, group work, narrative, art, play, mindfulness, and trauma-informed therapies in her practice. She is certified in Trauma Informed Care (TIC), and practices cultural humility to cultivate a safe and affirming space where the therapeutic relationship can be established and fostered to address distressing concerns. The idea is to approach each session with compassion and curiosity, attending to the needs of the client.

Ana enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, attending street fairs and markets, and exploring the varied cuisines from around the world found here in Chicago. She can also be found curled up somewhere on a comfy couch with a café con leche in one hand and a book in the other, or getting crafty with her kiddos. Glitter, construction paper, and glue… Oh My!
