AIHSC is currently looking for a qualified applicant for the following position.

Position Title:                Domestic Violence Prevention Project Coordinator
Salary:                           Competitive

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide individual, couples, family, and group therapeutic services in a culturally appropriate manner.
• Participate in integrated behavioral health and medical clinic meetings.
• Maintain appropriate documentation of therapeutic services.
• Provide a monthly report of department activities to AIHSC Executive Director.
• Connect with coalitions and networks to improve coordination and collaboration among victim service providers, healthcare providers, and other responders, and establishing coordinated community response policies, protocols, and procedures to enhance domestic and sexual violence intervention and prevention in the Chicago AI/AN population.
• Participate in trainings on evidence-based methods of trauma treatment. Specifically, Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) will be utilized in this project.
• Provide guidance and education about the Domestic Violence Prevention Initiative to AIHSC staff members.
• Provide community presentations/workshops on domestic and sexual violence among the AI/AN population.
• Collaborate with Regional Evaluator to coordinate a community and organizational needs assessment.
• Attend grantee meetings.
• Develop an advisory board and lead advisory board/community meetings.
• Maintain documentation of project activities and submit required progress reports to funder.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of: principles and techniques of interviewing and recording casework data; individual, group and family intervention techniques; case management practices and procedures; assessment and treatment of domestic and sexual violence; symptoms and treatment of mental illness, emotional and behavioral disorders; agency, state and court policies, procedures and processes related to client care; laws, rules and regulations related to domestic and sexual violence;
• Ability to: diagnose mental illness, mental retardation and related disabilities; conduct assessments of intellectual ability, adaptive functioning; psychopathology and risk assessment; perform a broad range of complex professional casework duties; develop a comprehensive case plan; provide case services; monitor case progress and prepare case documentation; manage caseload of clients with mental, emotional or psychological problems; assess and utilize social, agency and community resources; coordinate treatment services with other program staff of collateral agencies; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; perform crisis intervention; ability to assess, develop and implement treatment plans and goals; write comprehensive evaluations, reports and recommendations; maintain professionalism while dealing with difficult situations and/or clients; maintain effective working relationship with clients from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, internal staff and representatives of other collateral agencies.
• Experience working on interdisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of and/or a willingness to learn about AI/AN culture and culturally appropriate treatment methods for AI/AN individuals.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or a closely related academic field.
• Current Illinois licensure as a Clinical Social Worker, a Mental Health Counselor, Certified Counselor, or Marriage and Family Therapist issued by the appropriate Illinois licensing or certification authority.
• Must maintain/adhere to ethics and confidentiality standards according to license requirements.
